Alexander Dugin Questions Sovereignty of Several Former USSR Republics, Including Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Russian philosopher and political theorist Alexander Dugin has cast doubt on the existence of a sovereign Uzbekistan and other former USSR republics, claiming that the era of nation-states has “ended.”

According to Dugin, territories not under Russian control will become “outposts” for the United States, the European Union, and potentially China. He stressed that “either they will join our Unified Union, or serve as a Western foothold.”

Among the countries whose sovereignty he questioned, the ideologue of the so-called “Russian world” named Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan.

In his remarks, Dugin stated that Russia’s goal in the contemporary “three-pole world” is to become a “major center of power,” while independent states on the periphery are viewed as strategic threats.

His statements have raised concern among experts and analysts, as they directly challenge the principle of state sovereignty enshrined in international law and call into question the independence of several Central Asian and Caucasus nations.

Dugin heads the Ilyin Higher School of Political Studies and the International Eurasian Movement. In 2014, Foreign Policy magazine listed him among the 100 most influential thinkers in the world.
