About 100 citizens of Uzbekistan evacuated to Poland

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Poland is working on the evacuation of citizens of Uzbekistan from Ukraine to their homeland through Poland. This was announced by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Yusup Kabuljanov.

He noted that in the accumulation point on the territory of Poland for citizens of Uzbekistan, among whom the majority are women with children, conditions have been created for overnight stay. In particular, warm blankets, medical assistance and hot meals were provided.

"By 4 p.m. (Tashkent time) of 27 February 2022, about 110 citizens of Uzbekistan passed through the Karchova checkpoint to the territory of Poland. In the near future, the transfer of new citizens is expected, after which all compatriots will be transported in an organized manner by buses to the Katowice airport,” he said.

According to him, Uzbek diplomats are constantly at the Karchova checkpoint and at the airport in Katowice, who are dealing with the problems of arriving citizens. Evacuated citizens will be provided with the necessary funds at the airport.

Return certificates were promptly issued to 30 citizens of Uzbekistan who, for one reason or another, do not have documents with them, Yusup Kabuljanov added.

“The issue of providing an air corridor for the flight of aircraft of Uzbekistan Airways JSC in order to deliver citizens from Poland to Uzbekistan has been worked out. Preliminarily, the flight of the first aircraft to Uzbekistan is scheduled for 28 February 2022,” he said.

Earlier, in connection with the appeal of the Embassy of Uzbekistan to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland, the Polish authorities took an unprecedented step - for citizens of Uzbekistan flying to their homeland, PCR certificates and entry visas to Poland are not required.
