A scientific-practical seminar dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Egypt was held in Cairo

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A scientific and practical seminar dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Egypt and a presentation of the Development Strategy of New Uzbekistan was held today at the Cairo Center for Strategic Studies.

The event, which took place in one of the leading research centers in Egypt, was attended by members of the Egypt-Uzbekistan Friendship Society, representatives of political, scientific, business circles and the media of the country.

Deputy Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Furkat Sidikov provided detailed information on the large-scale reforms being carried out in our country. In particular, he spoke in detail about the projects implemented within the framework of the Action Strategy in the five priority areas of development of Uzbekistan in 2017-2021. Particular attention was paid to the fact that this year, together with the general public and civil society institutions, the Development Strategy of New Uzbekistan for 2022-2026 was developed.

Based on current global events, the Development Strategy identifies seven priority areas for human dignity, the rule of law and economic development.

It was noted that the consistent reforms carried out under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev opened a new stage in the development of the country - New Uzbekistan. Particular attention was paid to the fact that the head of our state has established open and friendly relations with foreign countries, and the Central Asian region has been identified as a priority direction of foreign policy.

The moderator of the event, the director of the Cairo Center for Strategic Studies, Ahmad Muslimani, noted that over the past five years, New Uzbekistan has been built and great success has been achieved in domestic and foreign policy.

He noted that Cairo and Tashkent have great potential and opportunities to bring bilateral relations to a higher level. There are also historical and cultural ties and prerequisites for the development of cooperation in various fields. In particular, more than 60 bilateral documents have been signed, and the legal framework allows developing new areas of cooperation.

Dean of the Faculty of Cairo University, holder of the order "Dustlik", Professor Ahmad Rajab Rizk noted that the relationship between the peoples of Egypt and Uzbekistan has a thousand years. According to the scientist, the nilometer built by Ahmad Ferghani in Cairo, the mahalla "Uzbakiya" in the capital of the country, the states of Tulunids, Mamluks and Ayyubids in Egypt and many other examples confirm the long history of our friendly relations.

Senator of the Egyptian Parliament and editor-in-chief of the Ash-Shuruk newspaper Imaduddin Hussein noted that over the past 30 years Egypt and Uzbekistan have jointly accomplished a lot of positive things, and expressed confidence that the still unused potential of the two states will serve as a solid foundation for further expansion of friendly relations the peoples of our countries.
