Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 27 October, at the site of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the States Members of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IPA CIS), a meeting was held between the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva and the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia A. R. Simonyan.
During the meeting, it was noted that there is a large untapped potential in the development of bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Armenia, primarily in the trade and economic sphere, including in increasing the volume and expanding the range of bilateral trade, establishing mutually beneficial cooperation ties in agriculture, pharmaceuticals , mechanical engineering.
Narbayeva emphasized the need to intensify inter-parliamentary cooperation both on a bilateral basis and within the framework of international parliamentary structures. Thus, the parliaments of the two countries have already created groups of bilateral cooperation, and it is expedient for these groups to be more actively involved in the development of relations between Uzbekistan and Armenia.
The parties discussed the prospects for the progressive development of bilateral cooperation and in the development of cultural and humanitarian ties.
At the end of the meeting, an agreement was reached on the development and signing of a framework agreement on interaction between parliaments, which will serve as an institutional basis for further strengthening ties between the legislative bodies of the countries.
