Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 21 August 2022, on the territory of the Aral Paygambar island (Surkhandarya region), a group of Afghan citizens was seen violating the State border and moored to the aforementioned island in their boats.

The frontier line of Uzbekistan that arrived at the place was resisted by the violators.

Thanks to the operation, all violators of the State Border of Uzbekistan (24 in total) were detained to establish their identity and conduct investigative measures.

According to the results of the survey, it was established that the cause of the border incident is the illegal extraction of licorice root, which grows in large numbers in the border zone of Uzbekistan.

Currently, the territory of the Aral Paygambar Island is under the full control of the units of the Border Troops of Uzbekistan.
