Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan organized a practical seminar on testing seed fields of grain crops for grain growers - representatives of the agricultural sector of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Khorezm, Navoi, Bukhara, Samarkand, Surkhandarya and Kashkadarya regions. More than 300 specialists participated in this seminar.

At the seminar, a group of experts led by First Deputy Minister of Agriculture Shukhrat Teshaev provided the participants with useful information about seed production of cereal crops.

The participants first got acquainted with foreign and local varieties of cereals, which are being tested on the experimental fields of the Research Institute of Agriculture in the southern regions, as well as with the primary seed production system. In particular, experts' reports were heard on the number of varieties and generations of seed grain harvested from the current year's harvest, on the work on the cultivation of primary seed grain and the procedure for approbation of grain fields.

During the event, experts and participants exchanged views on the results of last year's work on the collection of high-quality grain seeds and the prospects for seed production of grain crops for this year's harvest.

The report of Sh. Nurmatov, Chairman of the Center for Variety Testing of Agricultural Crops, was also useful for the participants on the procedure for transferring and testing new and promising varieties of grain to the State Variety Testing Stations, on approbation of seed grain fields.

It is worth noting that this seminar was organized in order to implement the tasks defined by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated January 28, 2022 No. PP-106 “On additional measures for the further development of seed production of agricultural crops”.
