Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation from Kyrgyzstan visited an industrial solar station operating in Navoi region of Uzbekistan. The visit of the delegation was organized with the support of the Central Asia Water and Energy Program (CAWEP), implemented by the World Bank.
During the visit from 14 to 17 December 2021, the delegation of Kyrgyzstan will study the successful experience of Uzbekistan in the production of renewable clean energy through the implementation of energy projects based on public-private partnerships (PPPs).
Thus, with the participation of private companies from among independent energy producers in Uzbekistan, projects of solar photovoltaic power plants and wind power plants (WPP) are being implemented in a number of regions of the country.
This work was organized taking into account the best international experience, in particular, in holding tenders to identify investors from among independent energy producers. The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, provides great support to the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan in organizing tenders.
The program of the visit of the delegation of Kyrgyzstan included a meeting in the capital with the leadership of the Ministry of Energy, a presentation was made on the current state and planned work in this area.
Reforming the energy sector of Uzbekistan at the present stage is inextricably linked with the growth of generation based on renewable energy sources and their integration into the unified energy network of the country.
Already this year, the country’s first industrial solar photovoltaic station with a capacity of 100 megawatts was commissioned in Karmana district of Navoi region, the launching ceremony of which was attended by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
In addition to visiting the Navoi FES, the program of the visit of the Kyrgyz delegation included meetings in the capital with the leadership of the Ministry of Energy, Regional Electric Networks JSC, the World Bank office in Uzbekistan and other structures.
