45.6 thousand employees suspended from work in Uzbekistan for refusing to be vaccinated against coronavirus

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In August 2021, an amendment was made to Article 113 of the Labor Code. So, if an employee evades a preventive vaccination (in the absence of contraindications for health reasons), introduced in the manner prescribed by law, on the basis of a decision of the Chief State Sanitary Doctor of the Republic of Uzbekistan, if there is a threat of the spread of quarantine and other infectious diseases dangerous to humans, the employer has the right not let him work.

According to the head of the Service for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health Bahodir Yusupaliyev, inspections were carried out in 28.5 thousand enterprises and 44.6 thousand budgetary organizations.

“In total, 89.4 thousand unvaccinated people were identified during the checks. Of these, 45,600 people were suspended from work. In 4,600 cases, fines were imposed on employers, 246 facilities were suspended,” he said.
