Uzbekistan’s Legislative Chamber Reviews Draft Law on Improving Hunting Activities
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis reviewed in first reading a draft law aimed at improving hunting activities and the management of hunting enterprises.
The bill is designed to systematize hunting procedures and hunter training, introduce advanced technologies in the sector, ensure the preservation and reproduction of biodiversity in hunting grounds, and develop hunting tourism infrastructure.
It proposes amendments to the Laws “On Weapons” and “On Hunting and Hunting Enterprises” to clearly regulate hunting activities, organize enterprise operations, protect wild animals, and create conditions for their natural reproduction.
Special attention is given to transparency: hunting permits (cards for capturing wild animals) will be issued through an electronic system, granting the right for seasonal or one-time hunting.
The draft law also supports the practice of releasing animals bred in nurseries into hunting grounds, allowing regulated hunting of such animals.
Hunting is to be conducted exclusively on designated hunting plots managed by enterprises, using a unified system for planning, defining permitted territories, and setting hunting periods. This is expected to strengthen control, increase wildlife populations, and conserve natural resources.
Deputies noted that adoption of the law will contribute to wildlife protection, sustainable resource use, the development of hunting culture, and the overall growth of the sector.
The draft law was approved by deputies in first reading.
