The action programme said that one of serious problems of Uzbekistan is that transport communications are located far and there is no direct access to sea ports. Foreign trade is conducted via transit of goods via territories of 2-3 states. In the result, the expenses to deliver goods are growing and it impacts competitiveness of exported goods from Uzbekistan.
The programe of development and modernization of production infrastructure for 2015-2019 envisages measures on further developing automobile roads and railways, logistic centers and communications.
Uzbekistan is planning to implement 150 projects worth about US$10 billion in this direction.
Implementation of the thirteen projects on development and electrification of railways, including on Angren-Pap, Maroqand-Qarshi, Qarshi-Termez, Maroqand-Bukhara directions, will be under special control.
It is also planned to construct and reconstruct 1,800 km of roads of Uzbekistan national highway, new byroads in Karshi, Qoqand, Tashkent, Bukhara, Gulistan, modernize roads of local use.
