Uzbekistan to Introduce Liability for Online Offenses and Promotion of Illegal Activities
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan plans to introduce administrative liability for violations committed on the internet and telecommunications networks.
The draft law, adopted in its first reading by the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, provides for penalties for the use of obscene language, offensive or indecent statements, as well as actions that disrupt public order online.
The document also establishes liability for the dissemination, promotion, and display of materials that encourage participation in armed conflicts abroad or on behalf of foreign states.
A similar measure applies to publications in the media and online where individuals promote their own offenses, aimed at preventing their glorification and imitation.
The adopted provisions are intended to create a safer digital environment, reduce factors contributing to illegal behavior, and protect citizens—particularly young people—from the negative influence of online information.
