Uzbekistan to Host First Interparliamentary Forum “Uzbekistan–Canada”
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — First Deputy Chairman of the Senate, Sodik Safoev, held a videoconference meeting with Ziyad Aboultayef, Chairman of the Canada–Uzbekistan Friendship Group in the Canadian House of Commons.
During the discussions, both sides emphasized their strong mutual interest in consistently developing and strengthening interparliamentary cooperation between Uzbekistan and Canada.
The visit of the Oliy Majlis delegation to Canada on 26–27 November 2025, as well as the successful celebration of Uzbekistan Day in the Canadian Parliament, were highly appreciated.
Particular attention was given to preparations for the first interparliamentary forum “Uzbekistan–Canada,” scheduled to take place in 2026 in Samarkand.
During the Canadian delegation’s visit, issues of trade and investment cooperation were discussed, including the development of projects in strategic minerals, agriculture, clean energy, education, and innovation.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their readiness to further deepen interaction and expand the interparliamentary dialogue between Uzbekistan and Canada.
