Uzbekistan and IMF Discuss Modernization of Tax System

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Farrukh Pulatov, Chairman of the Tax Committee of Uzbekistan, met with a delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) led by Margaret Cotton, Deputy Head of the IMF Revenue Administration Department.

The discussions focused on improving the country’s tax system, further digitalizing tax administration processes, implementing modern technologies, and enhancing transparency in taxpayer interactions. Special attention was given to measures aimed at reducing the shadow economy and encouraging voluntary compliance with tax obligations.

The meeting took place ahead of the International Forum of Heads of Tax Administrations of the Caucasus, Central Asia, and Mongolia, scheduled for March 12–13 in Tashkent with IMF support.

Both sides confirmed their intention to continue active cooperation, strengthen engagement, and implement joint initiatives to develop a modern and efficient tax administration in Uzbekistan.
