Uzbek Blogger Sirojiddin Adilov Detained Over Fraud Allegations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Authorities in Samarkand region have detained well-known blogger and YouTube channel creator Sirojiddin Adilov, operator of “Sirojiddin Media,” according to the regional Department of Internal Affairs.

The case stems from a complaint filed by a resident born in 1961, who claims that in August 2024 he sought Adilov’s assistance to resolve a financial dispute. Adilov, reportedly without proper authority, received a sum of money from the complainant and promised to resolve the matter in his favor.

According to the complainant, Adilov did not fulfill his promise, and his actions were misleading. As a result, a criminal case has been opened against Adilov under Article 168, Part 3 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan (fraud) and Article 211 via Article 28 (complicity in bribery).

Initially, the allegations pertained solely to bribery, but the charges were later clarified to include fraud.

Adilov operates the “Sirojiddin Media” YouTube project, which has over 900,000 subscribers, and maintains a presence on Facebook (~50,000 followers) and Instagram (~30,000 followers).

Authorities are continuing the investigation.
