According to estimates of the USGS, Uzbekistan increased production of gold by 4 tonnes in 2014 compared to 2013 – to 102 tonnes.
The US agency said that this growth allowed Uzbekistan to move from 8th to 7th place among the largest gold producers of the world.
China (430 tonnes), Russia (230 tonnes) and Australia (265 tonnes) were largest gold producers in 2014.
USGS noted that the global gold production reached 2,860 tonnes in 2014, which rose by 60 tonnes compared to 2013.
