Syrdarya Cadastre Inspector Arrested for Bribery

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A senior inspector of the Mirzaabad district department of the Syrdarya regional Cadastre Agency has been charged with soliciting a bribe.

According to law enforcement authorities, the official demanded $1,500 from a citizen born in 1975 for the expedited processing of cadastral documents for a residential property.

During a joint operation by the State Security Service and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes, the inspector was detained while receiving $1,000 and 6,050,000 UZS. The money was confiscated as evidence.

A criminal case has been initiated under Articles 168 (part 3, paragraph “v”) and 28, 211 (part 1) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The suspect has been placed in pre-trial detention, and the investigation is ongoing.
