Rupture of gas pipeline causes massive fire in Tashkent region – Emergency Ministry

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A massive fire, which erupted in Tashkent region on 24 August, was caused by rupture of gas pipeline, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Uzbekistan said on 25 August.

The ministry said that the rapture of gas pipeline with fire occurred at 21:00 of 24 August at the 157 km area of gas pipeline “Yangiyer-Tashkent”, which passes territory of Avesto farm in Yuqori-Chirchiq district of Tashkent region.

According to the ministry, the accident did not impact gas supply of Tashkent city. The ministry said there were no victims in the result of the accident.

The fire was localized at 23:40 thanks to adopted measures. The staff was created in the place and it includes representatives of Uzbekneftegaz, Ministry of Emergency Situations of Uzbekistan, Ministry of Interior Affairs and other interested bodies.

The statement said that the works on rehabilitation of damaged area of the pipeline will be completed soon.
