Presidents of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan holds telephone conversation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on 30 December, the Uzbek President’s press service said.

At the beginning of the conversation, the President of Uzbekistan cordially congratulated the President of Turkmenistan on the coming New Year and conveyed to the fraternal Turkmen people warm wishes for peace, stability and prosperity.

The leader of Turkmenistan, in turn, also sincerely congratulated the President and the friendly multinational people of Uzbekistan on the occasion of the upcoming holiday, wishing well-being and progress.

Presidents noted with deep satisfaction that the outgoing year 2017 was a historical period in the development of traditionally close ties, the strengthening of bilateral relations of friendship and good-neighborliness.

It was stressed that regular contacts at the highest level brought Uzbek-Turkmen cooperation to a qualitatively new level and filled it with concrete content.

During the state visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Turkmenistan in March 20117, the Treaty on Strategic Partnership was signed.

Significantly intensified contacts and practical cooperation in all areas. Major projects in the sphere of trade, industrial cooperation, energy, transport, agriculture and others are being implemented.

The fruitful cooperation between the border regions is developing. A number of joint business and cultural events were successfully held.

The Presidents emphasized the importance of further expanding the Uzbek-Turkmen multifaceted partnership, primarily the implementation of new projects and programs in the trade and economic sphere.

The heads of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan also exchanged views on topical issues of international politics and regional cooperation.
