Premier of China hands over “Chinese Nobel Prize” to Uzbek scientist
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
A solemn ceremony of presenting state awards of the People’s Republic of China in the field of science and technology and a prestigious award “International cooperation in the field of science and technology-2017” was held in Beijing.
The award ceremony was attended by President of China Xi Jinping, Premier of China Li Keqiang, members of the Politburo, Vice Premiers.
Seven foreign scientists, including an Uzbek scientist, biochemist, academician Shavkat Salikhov, became laureates of the prize for their contribution to development of international scientific and technical cooperation. The state award to academician Salikhov was presented by Premier of China Li Keqiang.
In November 2017, Honored Scientist of Uzbekistan, well-known scientist in the field of protein chemistry, chemistry of toxins and biotechnology Shavkat Salikhov was elected a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
He is the first scientist from Uzbekistan, elected to the CAS, and the second from the CIS countries after the Russian scientist, Nobel Prize winner in physics, Zhores Alferov.
