Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Samarkand hosted a presentation of a film about a man who became famous for building the Sherdor and Tilla-Kari madrasahs on Registan Square.

The director of the film is director Jahongir Ahmedov, known for his work on the film "Ilhak".

The event took place as part of cultural and educational events initiated by the President of Uzbekistan and held in the regions of the country under the motto "Yangi Uzbekiston-Inson kadri uluglangan yurt!". The organizer is the Cinematography Agency of Uzbekistan and the Khokimiyat of Samarkand region.

“Bahodir Yalantoush is our national hero. Thanks to him, the whole world can now enjoy the beauty and grandeur of Registan Square.

By his order, next to the madrasah, which was built by Mirzo Ulugbek in the 15th century, two centuries later, two madrasahs were erected - Sherdor and Tillya-Kari. Unfortunately, we know little about Bakhodir Yalantush, and the film, which is being created on the personal instructions of the President of Uzbekistan, is designed to tell people, and especially young people, how our architectural heritage was created. I would like to thank the khokimiyat of Samarkand region and personally the khokim Erkinjon Okbutaevich for their assistance in preparing the film, as well as for the comprehensive assistance in organizing our events,” said the director of the film, Jahongir Akhmedov.

As Firdavs Abdukhalikov, General Director of the Cinema Agency, emphasized, Samarkand is becoming a center of attraction for foreign filmmakers, the popularity of the city as a film location is growing rapidly. So, it was Samarkand that became the place for filming joint films. Soon, work will begin on the Uzbek-Tajik co-production - the films "Navoi and Jami". The shooting of the Turkish action series “I have no place in this world” will begin in Samarkand the other day.

It is worth noting that a number of films have already been shot in Samarkand and about Samarkand over the past few years with the support of the Khokimiyat of Samarkand region. These are the documentary "Matonat", "The aroma of melon in Samarkand", the documentary "Matonat" directed by Shukhrat Makhmudov, which tells about the heroism and humanity of 101 soldiers from Samarkand. The film recently won the Grand Prix at the 31st Golden Knight International Film Forum held in Sevastopol. It is also a film directed by Ali Khamraev “The aroma of melon in Samarkand”.

At the end of the event, the khokim of Samarkand region Erkinjon Turdimov was presented with a gift edition of the book “Cinema Art of Uzbekistan” from the Cinema Agency of Uzbekistan.
