Penetration of mobile communication among population to reach 90% by 2020 – Economy Ministry

The Ministry said that Uzbekistan is realizing the programme on developing and modernizing engineering-communication and road-transport infrastructure for 2015-2019.

Within the programme, it is planned to realize 150 investment projects for US$9.8 billion.

Due to expansion of mobile communication network, the level of coverage of population with mobile communication will reach 90%, the Ministry said.

Within the programme, total length of the fiber-optic communication lines of Uzbekistan will reach up to 28,500 km (by 1.7 times).

At the same time, number of internet users in Uzbekistan will grow by 25% to 70% due to expansion of fixed and wireless broadband access.
