Modern Waste Processing and Power Plant Under Construction in Chust

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In the Chust district, construction is underway on a modern waste processing and power generation plant that will provide electricity to hundreds of thousands of residents in the region and create new jobs.

A total of 15 hectares in the Zarafshan neighborhood have been allocated for the eco-industrial zone, of which 10 hectares are being used for the project by Everbright Environmental Energy Namangan LLC, with participation from Chinese investors. The total project cost is $150 million.

Shavkatjon Abdurazzakov, the region’s hokim, visited the construction site today to assess progress and discuss emerging issues with foreign partners.

Necessary instructions were given to accelerate construction and resolve any challenges. An agreement was reached with the investors for the plant to be fully operational by the end of the current year.

The facility is expected to process 547,500 tons of waste and generate 310 million kWh of electricity annually, of which 254 million kWh will be fed into the grid, supplying power to nearly 300,000 residents.

Additionally, the project will create 180 permanent jobs, representing a significant contribution to the socio-economic development of the region.
