Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Reports in social media indicate that law enforcement authorities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are conducting heightened checks on Uzbek citizens at airports, resulting in wait times of 5 to 8 hours, with some individuals even being denied entry.

The spokesperson for Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Akhror Burkhanov, commented on the situation via his Telegram channel, noting that extended inspections of foreign nationals, including Uzbek citizens, are currently ongoing at UAE airports. “We are closely monitoring the situation,” he emphasized.

According to Burkhanov, all necessary measures are being taken to protect the legitimate rights and interests of Uzbek nationals. Uzbekistan’s Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General in Dubai have already held prompt discussions with relevant UAE authorities and are maintaining constant contact to help normalize the situation.

He explained that the increased inspection times are due to enhanced security measures implemented in connection with various international events being held in the UAE. Nevertheless, thanks to the mobilization of all available resources, the screening process is being expedited, and Uzbek citizens are already beginning to enter the UAE without significant delays.
