Meeting of OIC Foreign Ministers starts in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 18 October 2016, the 43rd Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation is starting its work in Tashkent.

Representatives of over 50 Member Countries, as well as observer States, a number of international and regional organizations are participating in the event, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.

The Tashkent session will be the official start of chairmanship of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC until the next meeting of the Council in 2017.

The motto of the Uzbek presidency – “The education and enlightenment – path to peace and creativity”.

At the plenary sessions, the participants will discuss issues of maintaining the intergovernmental dialogue, solving common tasks in the field of peace, faced by OIC, as well as deepening cooperation in political, economic, scientific, educational, cultural and other fields.

The session will consider over 100 resolutions, which will be considered at the OIC meeting in Tashkent. Special Committee of the OIC will additionally consider several draft resolutions.

Tashkent declaration will be the main final document of the 43rd session of the OIC CFM, which will reflect main political, economic and cultural-humanitarian issues on agenda of the OIC, as well as priorities of upcoming presidency of Uzbekistan at the OIC CFM.
