Krasnoyarsk Region and Uzbekistan Expand Interregional Ties

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Sergey Ponomarenko, First Deputy Head of Krasnoyarsk Krai and Chief of the Governor’s Administration, met with Aslam Akbarov, Consul General of Uzbekistan in Novosibirsk, to discuss strengthening interregional cooperation.

The talks focused on deepening ties in the context of the “Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia” declared by President Vladimir Putin for 2026. Ponomarenko expressed appreciation for Uzbekistan’s support in fostering connections with local Uzbek partners and backing the Regional National-Cultural Autonomy of Uzbeks.

Special attention was given to implementing agreements reached at the II Council of Regions of Russia and Uzbekistan and the 2025 session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation. Preparations for Siberia Days in Uzbekistan, scheduled for autumn as part of the III Council of Regions, were also discussed.

Both sides emphasized that increased interregional interaction and the upcoming cultural event would further promote business, humanitarian, and tourism relations between Krasnoyarsk Krai and Uzbekistan.
