Insults, Humiliation, and Breaking the Law for Social Media Attention to Be Classified as Minor Hooliganism
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — At a meeting of political party factions in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, a draft law was discussed introducing administrative liability for offenses committed to attract attention on social media.
According to the document, the new provisions will cover videos and posts that promote breaking the law for “hype,” gaining likes, or increasing audience reach.
Administrative responsibility will apply to actions aimed at humiliating the honor and dignity of citizens, using insults, or employing obscene language online—such acts will be classified as minor hooliganism.
Special attention is given to cases where unlawful acts are deliberately recorded on video and published online to popularize disregard for the law. In such situations, the draft law provides for the imposition of fines.
