Individuals Account for 36% of Banks’ Loan Portfolios

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The loan portfolio of commercial banks in Uzbekistan continues to grow, reaching 582.2 trillion soums as of 1 October 2025, marking a 13% increase compared to the same date last year, according to data from the Central Bank.

Individuals hold the largest share of the lending structure: loans issued to them amounted to 208.6 trillion soums, representing 36% of the total portfolio and exceeding last year’s figure by 23%.

Industrial loans totaled 146.3 trillion soums, accounting for 25% of the overall portfolio, slightly down by 1% compared to the previous year.

Agricultural lending grew by 14%, reaching 59.4 trillion soums, maintaining a 10% share of the total loan portfolio.

The construction sector showed significant growth, with loans amounting to 17.2 trillion soums (3% of the portfolio), up 33% from October 2024.

Trade and public services received 40.9 trillion soums in loans, representing 7% of the total portfolio and growing by 18%.

The transport and communications sector saw a decline in lending to 32.5 trillion soums, or 6% of the portfolio, down 6% year-on-year.

Loans for material and technical supply and distribution rose by 21% to 4.5 trillion soums (0.8%), while housing and communal services loans fell to 1.8 trillion soums, accounting for just 0.3% of the portfolio, a 21% decrease compared to last year.

Loans to other sectors of the economy increased by 23%, reaching 71 trillion soums, or 12% of the total loan portfolio.
