Bukhara to become capital of Islamic culture in 2020

Bukhara will become the capital of Islamic culture in 2020. This decision was made at the Ninth Conference of Ministers of Culture of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Cairo (Egypt) and Bamako (Mali) were also approved as the capital of Islamic culture in 2020, the press service of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan said.
It should be noted that Bukhara is the capital of Islamic culture for several centuries. Bukhara is called as Kubbatul Islam or Gumbazi Islam.
The fact that the city was recognized as the capital of Islamic culture, once again confirms the outstanding contribution of this city and its scientists to the development of Islamic civilization, the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan said.
