Shavkat Mirziyoyev: the whole world was once again delighted with the talent of our chess players

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Dear chess players! I sincerely congratulate you and in your person all our multinational people on a joyful event - your worthy performance at the 44th World Chess Olympiad, held in the Indian city of Chennai, and winning the high title of champions, I express my deep respect and best wishes to you.

With your brilliant victory at this prestigious chess tournament, held every two years, in which the best chess players of the world participated in 188 teams, you opened a new page in the history of Russian sports.

All compatriots followed with great interest and excitement on television and via the Internet each of your games at these competitions.

The young chess players of Uzbekistan, who have a high intellectual potential, justified the trust and presented their bright victories as a gift to our people.

Undoubtedly, they have become a worthy gift for the 31st anniversary of our country’s independence.

The whole world once again admired the talent of our chess players - Nodirbek Abdusattorov, Nodirbek Yakubboev, Javokhir Sindorov, Jahongir Vohidov, Shamsiddin Vohidov, who defended the country’s honor at the tournament.

And especially - the victory of Jakhongir Vohidov in the last round, which ensured the historical success of our national team.

It should be noted with pride that at the Olympiad the members of our team, competing with representatives of countries traditionally leading in this sport - India, the USA, Armenia, the Netherlands, Spain, Great Britain, Germany, did not lose a single round.

You, my dears, have glorified the Uzbek chess school even more. I think all our compatriots will agree with me: such purposeful and devoted to the Motherland youth, like you, is our greatest wealth, the “golden fund” of our people.

I want to sincerely thank your parents and mentors for raising such smart and talented young men.

Demonstrating their high potential, chess players from Uzbekistan performed well at the international tournament.

We are sincerely grateful to them for this.

I express my deep gratitude to the experienced coaches of the national team Ivan Sokolov and Vladimir Yegin, who showed real dedication in training our winning athletes.

Your outstanding victory is a clear practical result of the great care and attention paid in the country to the education of a harmoniously developed generation, the promotion of physical culture and sports, including chess.

I am sure that our chess players will perform with dignity and achieve high sports goals also at the 46th World Chess Olympiad, which will be held in 2026 in Uzbekistan.
