Uzbekistan and the UAE discuss the results and prospects of cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - On 3 March 2021, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov met with the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the United Arab Emirates Suheil bin Muhammad al-Mazrui in Tashkent.
During the talks, the sides discussed current and promising projects in the energy, agricultural and infrastructure sectors, as well as the prospects for expanding the Uzbek-Emirates investment cooperation.
Significant progress was noted in the implementation of energy projects, in particular, projects in the field of alternative energy implemented by Masdar, as well as the privatization and expansion of Talimarjan TPP by Mubadala and Taka.
The activities of the joint Uzbek-Emirates Investment Company, which are considering 17 promising investment projects totaling about US$400 million in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, logistics, tourism, agriculture and the food industry, were considered in a positive way.
Also during the dialogue, the current status of a number of infrastructure and social projects implemented jointly with the Abu Dhabi Development Fund was discussed.
During the dialogue, the Uzbek side expressed special gratitude for the financial and technical assistance provided by the Emirate side in the construction of medical institutions and a new building of the State Archives of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
At the same time, the parties noted that there is a huge potential for building up trade and investment cooperation. An agreement was reached to create a working group to develop new investment projects in various sectors, including agriculture, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, logistics, metalworking and financial services.
