Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 2 March, Chairman of the Senate Committee of the Oliy Majlis on International Affairs, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investment and Tourism Ravshanbek Alimov has met with the President of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Member of Parliament, Dr. Vinay Sahasrabuddhe.
Mr. Vinay Sahasrabuddhe emphasized that India is following with great interest the large-scale reforms carried out in Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in all spheres of public life, including the process of democratization and strengthening civil society institutions.
In his opinion, the achievements of the country in this area are recognized with respect by the international community, and India is ready to support Uzbekistan in its democratic development.
The parties considered the prospects of bilateral inter-parliamentary ties. It was noted that a significant contribution to the development of interaction in this direction is made by the groups created in the chambers of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for cooperation with the upper and lower chambers of the Indian Parliament.
The Indian side expressed its intention to intensify cooperation with Uzbek partners in priority areas for Uzbekistan, including in education, infrastructure development, medical services, information and communication technologies and tourism.
