Issue of implementing a project to create a pharmaceutical cluster "Tashkent Pharma Park" discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Seoul participated in negotiations via videoconference between representatives of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade (MIFT) of Uzbekistan and the director of the project department of the Economic Development and Cooperation Fund (EDCF) of the Eximbank of Korea Ha Won-suk, Dunyo news agency reported.
The negotiations were also attended by senior officials of the Tashkent Pharma Park Directorate, as well as the head office and representative office of the Eximbank of Korea in Tashkent.
During the meeting, the progress of the investment project to create an innovative research and production pharmaceutical cluster "Tashkent Pharma Park" in Zangiata district of Tashkent region was discussed. The project is financed from concessional funds of the EDCF Fund of the Eximbank of Korea, the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan, the Fund for the Support and Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry and foreign direct investment.
Ha Won-suk said that the leadership of the Eximbank of Korea was informed about the priority of this project, since the pharmaceutical industry is a strategic area of bilateral cooperation. At the same time, the consultants of the Eximbank of Korea are working on the completion of design and technical documentation in an accelerated manner.
In turn, the Uzbek side noted that this project is being implemented in order to stimulate the comprehensive development of the country's pharmaceutical industry, including by expanding the range of manufactured drugs, conducting research and development, as well as training personnel in the field of pharmaceuticals qualified in accordance with international educational standards. According to the concept of the project, the modular structure of the cluster with a total area of 50 hectares provides for the creation of industrial, academic, research, clinical and preclinical sectors.
The Uzbek side announced its interest in the soonest preparation of bilateral documents for signing and starting practical work on the construction of the corresponding facilities of Tashkent Pharma Park.
As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached on organizing regular working negotiations between experts, and a schedule for further joint events was agreed upon.
