Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The retail trade turnover of Uzbekistan reached 194.84 trillion soums in January-December 2020 and increased by 3.2% compared to the same period of 2019, also the turnover of large enterprises amounted to 34.58 trillion soums (growth rates -12.8%), and small business and private entrepreneurship – 145.14 trillion soums (growth rate - 3.8%), including unorganized trade amounted to 14 945.0 billion soums (growth rate – minus 17.4%).
In the structure of the republic’s retail trade turnover, a significant share is noted in the city of Tashkent, which is 23.4%, or 45.67 trillion soums.
The retail trade turnover in January-December 2020 reached 194.84 trillion soums and increased, if compared with the same period in 2019, by 3.2%.
Compared to the corresponding period of 2019, all regions showed an increase in growth rates in retail trade.
In the structure of retail trade turnover in the period under review, the smallest share was recorded at 1.8%, or 3.58 trillion soums, which was noted in Syrdarya region in January-December 2020.
Compared to the same period in 2019, all areas saw an increase in retail growth. Along with this, significant growth rates were noted in the city of Tashkent (+3.6%), Jizzakh (+4.2%), Tashkent (+6.0%) and Samarkand (+7.3%) regions.
In the structure of retail trade turnover, the turnover of large enterprises increased by 12.8% and reached 34.75 trillion soums, which is 17.8% of its total volume.
The turnover of retail trade of small business and private entrepreneurship, according to statistical calculations, amounted to 160.08 trillion soums and, compared to the same period in 2019, increased by 1.4%. The share of this sector in the republic in the retail trade turnover reached 82.2%.
The share of small business and private entrepreneurship, in comparison with other regions, was the largest in Kashkadarya (93.5%), Surkhandarya (91.6%), Namangan (90.4%) regions, the Republic of Karakalpakstan (90.0%) and Fergana (89.2%) region. In the structure of retail trade turnover, the share of turnover of large enterprises amounted to 17.8% of the total sales, their main share was observed in the city of Tashkent (32.9%), Samarkand (19.8%), Navoi (17.4%) and Khorezm (16.9%) regions
Retail trade turnover per capita in the republic in January-December 2020 averaged 5.69 million soums (compared to the same period in 2019, it increased by 1.3%).
This indicator, in comparison with other regions, was more recorded in Tashkent city (17.4 million soums), Navoi (7.73 million soums) and Tashkent (7.1 million soums) regions.
According to preliminary data from a survey of individuals, the turnover of unorganized trade in January-December 2020 amounted to 14.94 trillion soums and, compared to the same period in 2019, decreased by 17.4%. Including the turnover of trade in dehkan markets amounted to 7.45 trillion soums (a decrease of 17.5%), the turnover of trade in livestock markets was recorded at the level of 7 490.3 billion soums (a decrease of 17.3%).
According to the preliminary data of a survey of individuals involved in the sale of agricultural products, poultry and livestock (grown and kept in personal subsidiary plots), conducted in January-December 2020, the trade turnover in dekhkan markets amounted to 7.45 trillion soums, livestock markets – 7.49 trillion soums.

High sales of fresh agricultural products reached 3.26 trillion soums.
In January-December 2020, a survey of individuals involved in the sale of poultry and livestock (kept in personal subsidiary plots) was carried out in all regions of the republic, as a result of which the turnover of this type of trade amounted to 7.49 trillion soums. The sale of livestock of different ages reached 5 829.0 billion soums, sheep and goats – 1.43 trillion soums, horses - 183.4 billion soums, birds - 40.7 billion soums.
In January-December 2020, in the structure of retail trade turnover, the share of trade turnover of catering enterprises amounted to 2.7%, reaching 5.21 trillion soums, and decreased, compared to the same period in 2019, by 6.0%. Of these, 84.4% of the trade turnover falls on the share of small businesses.
The turnover of public catering in the period under review amounted to 5.21 trillion soums (by January-December 2019 - 94.0%), by type of ownership: non-state - 5 105.3 billion soums and state - 113.4 billion soums. Compared to the same period in 2019, the turnover of public catering enterprises of state ownership decreased from 4.9% to 2.2%.
According to preliminary data, in January-December 2020, the volume of wholesale trade reached 112 639.6 billion soums and, compared to the same period in 2019, increased by 6.2%. The turnover of wholesale trade of small businesses, according to statistical calculations, amounted to 77.36 trillion soums and, compared to the corresponding period of 2019, decreased by 3.2%. The share of this sector in the wholesale trade turnover in the republic amounted to 68.7%.
The highest growth rates of the wholesale turnover of large enterprises, compared with 2019, were noted in the city of Tashkent (+12.2%), Khorezm (+8.5%), Andijan (+41.1%) and Samarkand (+2.8%) regions.
In recent years, the role of the public sector in the total volume of wholesale trade has been steadily declining. Thus, for the reporting period, the share of this sector was fixed at the level of 0.1% of the total volume of wholesale trade. Wholesale trade turnover in January-December 2020 amounted to 112 639.6 billion soums, including entities of non-state subordination – 112.51 trillion soums, state subordination - 124.7 billion soums.
Analysis of the share of wholesale trade by type of ownership showed that there is still an insignificant share of state ownership in the city of Tashkent (0.2%), Navoi (0.1%), Andijan (0.03%) regions. In other regions, wholesale trade is generally a non-state form of ownership.
