Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On the eve of the 5th international congress and exhibition "Hydropower in Central Asia and the Caspian 2021", Vostok Capital is holding a free webinar "Hydropower in Central Asia and the Caspian: implementation of projects for the construction and modernization of hydropower plants." The webinar will take place on 16 September at 13:00 Moscow time.

The countries of the Caspian region and Central Asia have an installed hydropower capacity of over 75 GW, most of this potential is still not being used. Thus, the share of untapped hydro potential of Georgia is 75%, Tajikistan - more than 91%, Kyrgyzstan - 90%, Uzbekistan - more than 76%.

At the same time, the hydropower production assets existing in the region were mainly commissioned during the Soviet years and are in need of modernization.

The issues of further development of hydro resources, construction of new hydroelectric power plants and modernization of existing ones are among the priorities for the countries of the region. The successful solution of these tasks will ensure the energy, and hence economic, security and independence of the countries of the Caspian region and Central Asia.
