Volume of market services provided in Uzbekistan reaches 116.56 trillion soums

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- According to preliminary data, the volume of market services provided in Uzbekistan in January-July 2020 reached 116.56 trillion soums, and the nominal volume increased by 11.14 trillion soums.  In comparable terms, compared to the same period of last year, the growth rate was 0.7%.

Compared to January 2020, the volume of market services provided in July (discrete month) of the current year decreased by 0.4 trillion soums and reached 15.9 trillion soums.

Compared to the volume of the VI discrete month (June) of 2020, the volume of the VII discrete month (July) of 2020 decreased by 4.4 trillion soums.

The service sector includes a variety of activities that help improve labor productivity and production efficiency.

An increase in financial services by 33.9% (contribution to the increase in the total volume of services provided by 1.8 points), communication and informatization services by 15.1% (contribution to an increase by 0.2 points), in education by 11.6% (contribution to the growth of 0.1 points) had an impact on the growth of the total volume of services offered. In January July 2020, compared to the same period of last year, the growth rate in comparable prices reached 0.7%.

The main factor behind the insignificant growth in the total volume of services rendered is a decrease in transport services by 10.5% (their negative impact was 0.6 points), trade services by 2.7% (-0.2 points), as well as accommodation and food services. by 19.5%, in health care by 16.4%, related to real estate by 10.6%, in the field of architecture, engineering research, technical testing and analysis by 9.2% - had a negative impact by 0.1 points.

In the structure of provided market services by type of economic activity, the largest share is occupied by trade services. Thus, in January-July 2020, their share was 26.1%. At the same time, high rates were noted for transport (24.4%), financial services (21.9%), communications and information services (6.1%).

A slight increase in volumes was noted in the health sector, the share of services of which reached only 1.4%. Also, a low share was recorded in the provision of services for the repair of computers and household goods - 1.5%, for rental and rental services - 1.8%, as well as in the field of architecture, engineering surveys, technical testing and analysis - 2.1%

High growth was noted in financial services (33.9%), communications and information services (15.1%) and in education (11.6%). For all other types of activity related to the service sector, compared with the same period of last year, there is a decrease in growth rates.

A significant decrease in the volume of market services provided was noted in the sphere of accommodation and food services (by 19.5%). Along with this, there was a decrease in healthcare services (by 16.4%) related to real estate (by 10.6%), transport services (10.5%), in the field of architecture, engineering surveys, technical tests and analysis, as well as rent and hiring services (by 9.2%).

Despite a significant reduction in the volume of market services provided in the transport sector, their share in the total volume of services remains predominant - 24.4%.

The share of road transport is 51.7%. The volume of transportation through pipelines in transport services is 19.4%. In turn, the services rendered by railway transport in the total volume of transport services reached 16.1%. The share of services for the carriage of goods and passengers by air was recorded within 5.6% and auxiliary transport activities - at the level of 7.2%.

Trade plays an important role in the economic life of each country, which carries out a connection between production and consumption, has a significant impact on the volume and structure of production of goods, as well as on improving their assortment and improving quality.

In January-July 2020, the share of trade services in the total volume of market services provided amounted to 26.1%, which corresponds to 30.46 trillion soums.

Over the past period, the share of retail trade amounted to almost three quarters of the total volume of trade services, or, more precisely, 66.5%.

The share of services in wholesale trade (except for trade in cars and motorcycles) reached 26.6%. Wholesale and retail trade of cars and motorcycles, including repair services, accounted for 6.9% of the total volume of trade services.

Compared to other regions, the largest share of retail trade services is observed in Kashkadarya (85.9%), Andijan (84.3%) and Jizzakh (83.3%) regions.

This indicator in Tashkent is insignificant. Here it was only 45.4%. However, in this city, the share of wholesale trade services is quite significant (except for trade in cars and motorcycles) - 47.6%. In Andijan region, it was the smallest - 9.2%.

A relatively high share of the services of wholesale and retail trade in cars and motorcycles, including services for their repair, was noted in Samarkand (9.5%), Tashkent (8.4%), Navoi (8.1%) and Ferghana (8.0%) regions.

The smallest share of these services was recorded in Surkhandarya (3.8%), Kashkadarya (4.7%) and Jizzakh (4.9%) regions.

The volume of financial services reached 25 571.1 billion soums. Their share in the total volume of services amounted to 21.9%.

Compared to the same period of last year, there is an increase in volume by 7.26 trillion soums. The growth of financial services was 33.9%.

The share of financial services, except for insurance and pension services, accounts for 91.1% of the total volume of financial services. Over the past period, the share of insurance services was recorded in the range of 4.9%.

Services auxiliary to financial and insurance services accounted for only 4.0% of the total volume of financial services.

The share of financial services, except for insurance and pension services, was significant in Syrdarya (94.9%), Surkhandarya (94.8%), Ferghana (94.1%), Jizzakh (93.5%), Navoi (92.7%) regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan (94.9%). The smallest indicator was recorded in Andijan region (87.0%).

Among the regions in the structure of financial services, the volume of insurance services prevails in Tashkent (8.1%), Namangan (6.4%), Navoi (5.7%), Bukhara (5.6%) and Khorezm (5.2 %) regions.

The smallest indicator for insurance services was recorded in Andijan (3.1%), Samarkand (3.8%) and Surkhandarya (3.9%) regions, as well as in the Republic of Karakalpakstan (3.5%).

The experience of developed countries has shown that the development of ICT directly affects the level of competitiveness of the country, allows to collect and summarize huge amounts of information, opens up wide opportunities for management at the strategic level.

The active use of ICT is based on a widely ramified infrastructure, equipped with the latest types of equipment and technologies, and high human potential.

In January-July 2020, the volume of communication and informatization services was fixed at the level of 7.05 trillion soums.

Compared to the same period of last year, the growth rate of this type of services reached 15.1%.

The share in the total volume of provided market services amounted to 6.1%.

In the volume of communication and informatization services, the largest share falls on telecommunication services (wired and mobile communication services, Internet networks, satellite communication services, etc.). Their share was 79.2%.

Computer programming services, consulting and other related services reached 7.0%, other communication services - 4.8%, publishing services, as well as information services - 4.5% of the total volume of communication and informatization services.

High growth rates were noted in Tashkent (+33.9%), Jizzakh (+14.8%), Syrdarya (+13.9%), Ferghana (+13.6%) and Andijan (+12.8%) regions, as well as in the city of Tashkent (+17.6%).

An insignificant growth in communication and information services, compared to last year, was recorded in Bukhara (5.2%), Surkhandarya (7.6%) regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan (8.2%).

As you know, providing citizens with quality and affordable education is a task that largely determines the development of society and its future.

In January-July 2020, the volume of services in the field of education reached 4 192.8 billion soums, or 3.6% of the total volume of market services provided. Compared to the same period of last year, the growth rate was 111.6%.

The largest volume of services in the field of education was noted in Samarkand (310.2 billion soums), Tashkent (263.7 billion soums), Andijan (254.7 billion soums), Ferghana (242.7 billion soums) regions and the city of Tashkent (1 781.1 billion soums).

The lowest indicators were recorded in Syrdarya (59.8 billion soums), Navoi (89.1 billion soums), Jizzakh (103.0 billion soums), Khorezm (137.3 billion soums) and Surkhandarya (157.0 billion soums) regions.

Compared to the same period of last year, the growth rates of accommodation and catering services amounted to 80.5%, and their volume was equal to 3 125.8 billion soums. Over the past period, their share in the total volume of market services provided amounted to 2.7%.

In the total volume of accommodation and catering services, services for the provision of food and drinks prevail - 83.0%. In January-July 2020, the share of residential services was 17.0% In January-July 2020, the volume of services in the healthcare sector was equal to 1 649.7 billion soums. In the total volume of services, their share was 1.4%. Compared to the same period of last year, the growth rate was 83.6%.

The share of the city of Tashkent prevails in the total volume of services in the health care sector - 43.0%. Along with this, a relatively high proportion was recorded in Tashkent (9.1%), Ferghana (7.2%) and Samarkand (6.1%) regions.

This indicator is insignificant in such regions as Syrdarya (1.7%), Navoi (2.2%), Jizzakh (2.4%), Surkhandarya (3.0%) and Khorezm (3.5%) regions, and also in the Republic of Karakalpakstan (2.1%).

The production of services by type of economic activity is differentiated depending on the level of income, tastes and preferences of consumers.

In the total volume of services, the share of the city of Tashkent is the most significant - 36.6%. This is due to the fact that real incomes of the population are higher here than in other regions. Also, the largest share was recorded in Tashkent (7.5%), Samarkand (6.3%), Ferghana (6.0%) and Andijan (5.3%) regions.

The lowest indicators of the service sector were noted in Syrdarya (1.4%), Jizzakh (2.2%), Navoi (2.6%), Khorezm (3.0%) regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan (2.9%).

Over the past period, relatively high growth rates were noted in Andijan (104.4%), Navoi (103.5%), Syrdarya (102.6%), Bukhara (101.2%), Jizzakh (101.0%) and Khorezm (100.9%) regions, the Republic of Karakalpakstan (102.1%) and the city of Tashkent (105.9%).

A slight increase was recorded in Tashkent (0.4%), Namangan (0.2%) and Ferghana (0.1%) regions.

A decrease in growth rates was observed in Samarkand (by 1.1%) and Kashkadarya (by 0.2%) regions.

During the surveyed period in the context of regions, the city of Tashkent had a huge impact on the increase in the total volume of market services provided. Compared to the same period of last year, the volume of services in this region increased by 6 286.9 billion soums and reached 42 714.1 billion soums.

Along with this, relatively high rates were observed in Tashkent (8.71 trillion soums), Samarkand (7.31 trillion soums), Ferghana (7 trillion soums) and Andijan (6.14 trillion soums) regions.

As you know, the prospects for the socio-economic development of modern Uzbekistan largely depend on the rational use of all the resources of each economic region and region of the republic in national and local interests.

The level of development of the service sector ensures the territorial and social mobility of the population, the development of new economic territories, an increase in production efficiency and the consumption of material goods.

Growth in the volume of market services rendered per capita is observed monthly.

In January-July 2020, the volume of market services rendered per capita reached 3.42 million soums. Compared to the same period of last year, it decreased by 1.2%.

This indicator among the regions ranges from 16.44 million soums in the city of Tashkent to 1.58 million soums in Surkhandarya region. The low per capita rate in this region is due to its high population figures.

As of 1 August 2020, the share of enterprises and organizations engaged in the service sector reached 65.3%, industry - 17.5%, construction - 8.9% and, only 8.3%, operate in agriculture, forestry and fisheries.

In the structure of operating enterprises and organizations related to the service sector, the share engaged in trade activities prevails (41.2%). The number of operating enterprises and organizations providing accommodation and food services amounted to 9.6%.

The share of operating enterprises and organizations related to transportation and storage and related to the service sector, in their total number, reached 5.7%. The share of functioning enterprises and organizations engaged in information activities and providing communication services is 3.0%. The number of operating enterprises and organizations providing services in the field of health care and social security amounted to 3.0% of their total number.

Compared to the same period of last year, the number of operating enterprises and organizations operating in the service sector increased by 38.4 thousand units.

In relation to the surveyed period last year, high growth is observed in the field of trade - 28.0%. The number of enterprises and organizations employed in this industry increased by 25.9 thousand units and reached 118.4 thousand units.

Also, growth was noted in activities related to the provision of accommodation and food services, which amounted to 15.7%. The number of enterprises and organizations operating in this activity increased by 3.7 thousand units and amounted to 27.6 thousand units.

As of 1 August 2020, in the total number of enterprises and organizations providing services, small businesses accounted for 78.5%.

The growth of operating enterprises related to small businesses has had a positive impact on the increase in the total number of operating enterprises and organizations engaged in the service sector.

As of 1 August 2020, compared with the same period of last year, the number of small businesses operating in the service sector increased by 37 546.0 units.

As a result, their number amounted to 225 584 units, and the growth increased by 20.0%. In the total number of operating small businesses, the share of those employed in the service sector reached 59.9%.

The development of the service sector in the Republic depends on the growing purchasing power and preferences of the population, as well as the development of small businesses capable of meeting consumer demand, especially for modern types of services using ICT.
