Video surveillance cameras to be installed in Tashkent
Hokim of Tashkent city Rahmonbek Usmanov signed an order “On measures on equipping residential areas and mahallas of Tashkent city with video surveillance systems” on 11 December 2015.
The decision was adopted to support public order and ensure security of population, including free movement of criminal elements.
According to the order, the territories of housing estates and mahallas of Tashkent city will be equipped with video surveillance systems.
The document recommended owners of habitations in many-storied houses and mahallas to install video surveillance systems.
Installation and use of video surveillance equipment in the apartment buildings will be carried out by specialized companies, management companies and unions of private house owners on the basis of contracts, signed with the owners of apartments, the document said.
Centralized surveillance observation points will be placed in the premises of district inspectors. The law enforcement agencies will be able to receive records on request in cases of any crimes.
It is worth to mention that there are about 9,400 tenement houses and more than 4,200 streets, passages and dead ends. All of them will be equipped with video surveillance.
