Veterinary Committee of Uzbekistan and Jizzakh Organic will help farmers improve the breed of cattle

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Veterinary Committee of Uzbekistan and Jizzakh Organic will help farmers improve the breed of cattle.

On 5 November 2020, the parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding. Joint efforts will be aimed at importing pedigree livestock, subsidizing farms, and working to improve the gene pool of animals.

The Memorandum of Understanding between the State Veterinary Committee and the national cluster Jizzakh Organic provides for joint actions in the development of animal husbandry, creating new jobs, attracting local and foreign investors.

“President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has repeatedly raised the issue of breeding pedigree animals in Uzbekistan, as well as the need to strengthen cooperation between government agencies and farmers. Jizzakh Organic is one of the largest investors in the agricultural sector. His experience and skills will help improve the situation in the livestock sector, including increasing the number of breeding bulls, cows and sheep, thereby increasing the production of quality meat and milk in the country,” said Bahrom Norkobilov, chairman of the State Committee for Veterinary Medicine and Livestock Development.

The signing of the Memorandum will give a start to active work in the following areas:

import of breeding stock for sale to farmers without high margins;

subsidizing the owners of pedigree livestock (the amount of subsidies is from 1 to 2 million soums per animal);

consulting by foreign experts Jizzakh Organic farmers and livestock breeders;

updating the list of established veterinary drugs to the latest generation of vaccines;

selection (embryonic and seed fertilization).

“The national cluster Jizzakh Organic has established relations with suppliers of pedigree livestock, veterinary drugs and agricultural equipment from Europe, the USA, Russia, and China. Thanks to purchases in large quantities, we achieve tangible discounts from foreign partners. A lower starting price and government subsidies will open up access to pedigree animals not only to large farms, but also to farmers. We are also preparing for an experiment on insemination of local cows with foreign gobies of the Angus and Hereford breeds. If the results turn out to be positive, then we will be able to achieve an improvement in the gene pool in a short time,” said Hikmatilla Karimov, director of Jizzakh Organic.

In the near future, the national agricultural cluster Jizzakh Organic will launch a program for selling heifers to farmers with the subsequent purchase of calves at favorable market prices for further fattening and obtaining marbled beef.
