UzLiDeP holds meeting with OSCE observers

At the meeting, the sides exchanged opinion on preparations and holding of presidential elections, democratic reforms in Uzbekistan, role of the party in these processes.

The OSCE officials received information on experience of the party on participation in parliamentary and presidential elections, collection of signatures to support presidential candidate, pre-election campaigns, use of mass media in agitation and meeting with the voters.

The OSCE observers also express interest in reforms directed at creating civil society and market economy, development of small and private businesses, etc. Cayetana de Zulueta noted that she visited Uzbekistan about 20 years ago and the country reached great successes in all spheres.

Ambassador said that it is important to ensure participation of foreign observers in elections in Uzbekistan. She said that this institute is one of important tools to ensure openness and transparency of elections.

The sides exchanged opinion on gaps in electoral legislation and practices of holding elections in various OSCE member states.
