Uzbekistan’s Green Energy Production Surges by 40%
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Electricity production at solar and wind power plants in Uzbekistan saw a significant increase during the period of January–March 2026, according to the Ministry of Energy.
The total generation volume reached 2 billion 368.2 million kWh, representing an increase of 678.1 million kWh compared to the same period in 2025. This reflects a growth rate of 40%.
Of the total volume, solar power plants accounted for 1 billion 159.6 million kWh, while wind power stations contributed an additional 1 billion 208.6 million kWh. For comparison, total generation in the first quarter of 2025 stood at 1 billion 690.1 million kWh, which included 971.8 million kWh of solar energy and 718.4 million kWh of wind energy.
The expansion of green energy production has resulted in substantial economic and environmental benefits. Specifically, 631 million cubic meters of natural gas were saved, and the emission of approximately 1.3 million tons of harmful substances into the atmosphere was prevented.
The volume of electricity produced is equivalent to the three-month consumption of approximately 3.9 million households, or the total annual consumption of nearly 986,000 households.
