Uzbekistan’s Delegation Departs for the XXV Winter Olympic Games in Italy

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Today, Uzbekistan’s delegation departed for Italy to participate in the XXV Winter Olympic Games Milan–Cortina 2026, scheduled from 6 to 22 February.

The first qualifying matches in curling begin today, while the official opening ceremony is set for 6 February.

Following the qualification cycle, Uzbek athletes secured four Olympic quotas across three sports. In figure skating (pair skating), Dmitry Chigiryov and Ekaterina Geynish earned the right to compete. In alpine skiing, Medet Nazarov qualified in the slalom and giant slalom events. In short track, Daniil Eybog received the quota for the 500-meter distance.

However, due to an injury, Dmitry Chigiryov was unable to recover in time for the competitions. As a result, Uzbekistan will participate only in alpine skiing and short track events.

The XXV Winter Olympic Games will take place in the Italian cities of Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, where the world’s top athletes will compete for medals from 6 to 22 February.
