Uzbekistan’s Consulate in Aktau Warns Citizens About Illegal Border Crossings
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Aktau has issued a warning to citizens traveling along the Uzbekistan–Kazakhstan–Russia route.
The consulate strongly advises strict compliance with the legislation on crossing state borders when passing through checkpoints.
According to Kazakh authorities, in recent days there have been cases of Uzbek citizens attempting to cross the state border illegally. Those detained have been prosecuted under Articles 392 and 394 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
It is noted that since September of this year, Kazakhstan has strengthened penalties for border violations, including long prison terms.
The consulate urged citizens not to use illegal schemes and reminded them that unlawful border crossing or attempts to do so entail criminal liability.
Citizens are recommended to strictly follow the established border-crossing procedures and comply with the laws of the host country.
