Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade hosted a meeting between the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov and the Chairman of the Planning and Budget Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Lütfi Elvan.
During the meeting, which was also attended by representatives of large Turkish business, the priority areas of interaction were considered within the framework of the implementation of a number of investment projects with the participation of Turkish and Uzbek companies and the attraction of new potential investors in such areas as agriculture, textile, leather and footwear and automotive industry, production of building materials.
Also, further steps were outlined for interaction in the issue of attracting Turkish expert consultants to improve the management system and implement structural reforms in priority sectors: agriculture, electricity, construction, and the textile industry.
In this context, the prospects of using Turkey’s experience in stimulating socio-economic development, improving the investment climate, attracting foreign investments, fighting the shadow economy and fighting corruption were emphasized. It was agreed that Turkish experts will assess the impact of the changes in the legislation on the investment climate in the Republic, as well as provide practical assistance in improving the country’s position in international ratings.
Special attention was paid to cooperation in the digitalization of public administration, bearing in mind the use of the Turkish experience in the implementation of the e-government system. An agreement was reached on the creation of a joint working group consisting of the heads of the relevant departments and ministries of the two countries to work out practical issues for the implementation of this initiative.
Also, specific mechanisms were developed to strengthen intergovernmental cooperation in the field of labor migration by enhancing the interaction of specialized state structures of the two states in order to systematize and resolve issues of labor activity of citizens of Uzbekistan living in Turkey.
Following the meeting, a plan of practical actions was drawn up to promote joint initiatives in the indicated directions.
