Uzbekistan to receive Talgo-250 train by end of 2016
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan will receive high speed electric train Talgo-250 by the end of 2016, the Ministry of Economy of Uzbekistan said.

The electric train is purchased within the implementation of programme on developing and modernizing engineering-communication and road-transport infrastructure for 2015-2019. Within the programme, it is planned to realize 150 investment projects for US$9.8 billion.

Uzbekistan Temir Yollari (Uzbekistan Railways) inked memorandums of understanding and agreements with foreign investors for almost US$53 million within the International Investment Forum in Tashkent in November 2015. The cost of the project is 38 million euros.

New train will consists of two locomotives, 10 passenger cars and restaurant car, which will be able to transport 287 passengers.

The contract is financed due to own resources of Uzbekistan Temir Yollari and loan of the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan (FRDU).

New trains will be used at the high-speed route Tashkent-Bukhara, which was commissioned in 2016. The project cost on construction of railway from Samarkand to Bukhara estimated at over US$400 million.

Currently, Uzbekistan Temir Yollari uses two locomotives of Talgo. High speed trains Afrosiyob are used on route Tashkent-Samarkand-Bukhara-Tashkent.
