Uzbekistan Temporarily Suspends Umrah Pilgrimages Amid Escalation in the Middle East

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan has temporarily postponed Umrah pilgrimages due to the sharp escalation of tensions in the Middle East and the resulting restrictions on the use of airspace, which have led to the cancellation of several flights, the press service of the Committee for Religious Affairs reported.

The statement notes that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan recommends that citizens refrain from traveling to countries in the region, while those already there should strengthen personal safety measures and exercise heightened caution.

In light of the current situation and to ensure the safety of its citizens, Umrah trips organized by the Administration of Muslims of Uzbekistan and tour operators are temporarily suspended. In particular, the next flight carrying pilgrims from Tashkent to Jeddah, scheduled for 2 March 2026, has been postponed indefinitely.

The resumption of flights and the organization of pilgrimages will be announced through official channels. The Committee for Religious Affairs urged citizens to understand the temporary restrictions and rely only on verified and official information.
