Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — With the support of the Embassy of Uzbekistan, a delegation of the Committee for Industrial, Radiation and Nuclear Safety under the Cabinet of Ministers, led by Deputy Chairman Sardorbek Yakubekov, paid a working visit to Hungary, the Dunyo news agency reported.

During the visit, the Uzbek delegation examined Hungary’s national program in the field of nuclear energy, familiarized itself with effective sectoral regulatory methods, scientific support for regulatory bodies, as well as the system for monitoring nuclear power plant construction, ensuring radiation and nuclear safety, licensing, and developing regulatory documentation.

Particular attention was given to the operations of Hungary’s nuclear energy regulator, as well as the practical aspects of supervising and monitoring both existing and newly constructed facilities.

A visit to the Paks Nuclear Power Plant provided an opportunity to observe the operation of the existing reactors and the progress of construction of the new Paks-II power unit.

According to participants, such exchanges help strengthen bilateral cooperation and enhance Uzbekistan’s institutional capacity in the field of nuclear and radiation safety.
