Uzbekistan starts exporting gas to Tajikistan
Uzbekistan and Tajikistan signed an agreement on export of natural gas during the state visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Tajikistan on 9-10 March 2018.
Under the contract, the supply of blue fuel began through the Muzrabad-Dushanbe trunk pipeline.
There are two technical threads here that can be used to ensure uninterrupted fuel supply to Tajikistan. At the same time, the capacity of the gas measuring station is 125,000 cubic meters of gas per hour. And the implementation of this project has become another practical step in strengthening bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
"Today is a joyful day for our people," said Shavkat Shoimov, the first deputy general director of JSC "Tajiktransgaz". - Natural gas supplies began. This became possible due to the agreements reached between the heads of the two states. The work was carried out in the shortest possible time. And this is only the beginning. We plan to continue cooperation with Uztransgaz on transit of valuable raw materials and gas supply to the border regions. I think that joint work will help to raise the trade and economic relations of the two countries to a new level.
The fuel supply will help to cover demands of Tursunzade region of Tajikistan for gas. In the near future, it is planned to expand supply of natural gas to border areas.
