Uzbekistan, Russia discuss expanding supply of fruits and vegetables
According to the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, the Uzbek-Russian working group on supply of fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan to Russia was created in the result of the visit.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Russia Yevgeniy Gromyko held negotiations on increasing supply of fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan to Russia.
Russian official said that Russia is interested in fresh fruits and vegetables, frozen and processed products. He said that Russia is ready for cooperation with the Uzbek side on this issue and affirm interest in long-term cooperation on expanding the volume of trades.
Deputy Minister underlined perspectives and growth of development of the Uzbek-Russian relations in agriculture industry, including in supply of fruits and vegetables.
He also said that supply of fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan to Russia rose 2.3 times in past period of 2016 due to joint work of the state bodies and businesses of two nations.
Gromyko held negotiations with the Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Invetsment and Trade of Uzbekistan Elyor Ganiev.
During the negotiations, the sides discussed perspectives of bilateral cooperation in various spheres of agriculture sector, including exchange of experience.
During the fair, it was noted that Uzbekistan exported almost 700,000 tonnes of agriculture products in ten months of 2016. By the end of 2016,, the figure will reach up to 1 million tonnes.
According to the Russian ministry, supply of fruits and vegetables to Russia makes up 60-65% of total exports of Uzbekistan.
