Uzbekistan resumes import of electricity from Tajikistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan resumed import of electricity from Tajikistan from 2 April 2018. This was reported by the agency "Khovar".

The agency said that the power transmission line from the Regar substation (Tajikistan) to the Gulcha substation (Uzbekistan) was put under voltage.

Uzbekistan and Tajikistan stopped reciprocal electricity supplies in 2009. Then Uzbekistan left the unified energy system of Central Asia.

The countries signed an agreement on mutual deliveries of electricity during the state visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Tajikistan on 9-10 March 2018.

Uzbekenergo previously reported that Uzbekistan and Tajikistan agreed on the supply of electricity in the amount of up to 1.5 billion kWh during the vegetation period of 2018.

The company said that Uzbekistan and Tajikistan will additionally hold talks on the supply of electricity for the 2018/2019 winter period.
