Uzbekistan Ranks 124th in the Global Corruption Perceptions Index
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan has recorded a slight decline in Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index.
According to the organization’s latest report, the country scored 31 points and ranked 124th out of 182 countries and territories, slipping by one point compared to the previous year.
This marks the second consecutive year of negative movement following more than a decade of steady improvement. Since 2023, Uzbekistan has lost a total of two points and fallen three positions in the ranking.
Despite the deterioration, Uzbekistan continues to outperform several CIS countries, including Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan. At the same time, it lags behind Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Armenia, and Georgia.
International experts note that even countries with well-established democratic institutions remain vulnerable to corruption risks amid weakening political will at the leadership level.
Globally, the strongest results were recorded by Denmark, Finland, and Singapore, which scored 89, 88, and 84 points respectively.
The lowest scores were registered by South Sudan and Somalia, each with 9 points, Venezuela with 10 points, and Yemen, Libya, and Eritrea, each scoring 13 points.
