Uzbekistan Promotes Tourism Potential in Berlin Through Series of Meetings

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Berlin, on the sidelines of the international ITB Berlin tourism exhibition, a delegation from Uzbekistan led by Abdulaziz Akkulov, Chairman of the Committee for Tourism, held a series of bilateral meetings with representatives of international organizations and business circles. The delegation also participated in the UN Tourism Ministers’ Summit.

The main goal of the discussions was to promote Uzbekistan’s tourism potential on international platforms, expand partnerships, and increase the flow of foreign tourists to the country.

During a meeting with the Federal Government Commissioner for Economics and Tourism of Germany, Bundestag member Christoph Ploss, the parties discussed prospects for institutional cooperation between Uzbekistan and Germany in the tourism sector. Particular attention was paid to creating favorable conditions for expanding tourist exchanges and increasing the presence of German tourism companies in Uzbekistan.

In talks with Ali Pasha Akbash, head of the Europe-based Turkic-Islamic Unity organization, discussions focused on promoting Uzbekistan’s pilgrimage tourism potential among Muslim communities in European countries. The parties also explored opportunities to popularize the country’s Islamic and cultural heritage through thematic events and presentations in the organization’s cultural centers. Agreements were reached to increase tourist flows for pilgrimage tourism from Europe, hold joint events, and organize a press tour to Uzbekistan for organization members and media representatives.

In a meeting with Gino Leonard, Founder and Managing Director of Private Palace Hotels & Resorts, discussions addressed attracting international hotel operators to develop Uzbekistan’s tourism infrastructure. Prospects were considered for expanding collaboration in premium and resort tourism, as well as renovating historic buildings in Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva for conversion into boutique hotels. Attention was also given to wellness and medical tourism development.

Additionally, during talks with Ahmet Büstürk, Vice President of Turkish Airlines, discussions focused on international promotion of Uzbekistan’s tourism potential, increasing inbound tourist flows, and stimulating tourism growth through expanded air services. Opportunities were explored for joint promotion via the airline’s global communication channels, strengthening engagement with tourism businesses, and expanding route networks and flight frequencies.

As a result, an agreement was reached to prepare a memorandum of cooperation between the Uzbekistan Committee for Tourism and Turkish Airlines. The parties also plan a series of roadshows and B2B meetings with tour operators, industry associations, and media representatives in priority markets across Europe, the United States, Latin America, and Australia.
